Welcome
Welcome to Area 23, the Capital of the Independent Republic of Cork.
With 6 established Toastmaster clubs there is sure to be a place for anyone interested in Toastmasters in the Cork City Area. We have the oldest club in Cork Toastmasters, established in 1967, to the newest club Bishopstown Toastmasters, established in January 2009. In addition with Carrigaline, Sláinte in Douglas, Crusaders in Wilton and Powdermills in Ballincollig we have a broad geographic spread making Toastmasters accessible to anyone who wishes to be involved.

All our clubs welcome members of the public to visit and attend a meeting and assess for themselves how Toastmasters can enrich their lives.
You are welcome to attend any club on any of the following dates, without obligation. You can be assured of a warm welcome.

A Message from The Area Governor

My fellow Toastmasters I am really overjoyed to have been given the chance to serve as Area 23 Governor for the 2008/2009 Toastmasters year and I am eagerly looking forward to working with you all over the next twelve months.
I, myself, am full of confidence that if we all work together as a team, if nothing is neglected and if the best arrangements are always made, as I am sure they will be, then I am confident that we will once again see Area 23 at the top of the pile and a role model for other areas.
Assistant Area Governor, Eileen Twomey, and I look forward to the cooperation of the club Presidents, Phil Soltan, Michael Clohosey, Teresa Lehane, Caroline O’Connor, John Lynch and Aidan Coakley and their teams as I believe that together we possess all the resources and talents necessary to make it happen. We must all work together as a team towards one common goal and commit ourselves to achieving maximum results.
In my dealings with you, my fellow Toastmasters, I will be guided by the Chinese proverb on leaders:
“A leader is best when people barely know he exists, not so good when people obey and proclaim him, worse when they despise him . But of a good leader who talks little when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say; we did it ourselves.”
Let us all hope that on June 30th 2009 we will be celebrating unprecedented success.

Denis Heffernan ACS, CL
Governor
Area 23
