Solent Speakers club exists to provide opportunities for people like you to boost their self-confidence, acquire and develop public speaking skills and become better communicators and leaders.

The club was launched in December 2002 and we are the only club of its kind in the Fareham and Portsmouth area providing structured practice and constructive feedback in an informal, no-risk environment. Click here for a presentation about Toastmasters and Solent Speakers.

A statement of shared values

Every Toastmasters club shares the same mission, clearly defined in the following mission statement:

The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every individual member has the opportunity to develop oral communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.

Through this mission, each Toastmaster gains a clear understanding of the club's purpose, and the organization as a whole benefits from a shared set of values and goals.

On Sunday 22nd April, 8 intrepid members of Solent Speakers travelled to Cheltenham to support our president, John Webber  who was competing in the Division J  (SW England)  International Speech Contest.

The contest saw champions from the 5 areas in Division J compete for the coveted silver trophy and the opportunity to take part in the UK and Ireland Final in Wexford on May 12th.
